DR SUSAN FRIEDMAN:

Dr. Susan Friedman is an emeritus professor of psychology at Utah State University and has pioneered the application of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to all types of zoo and companion animals. The ABA, derived from the Theory of Learning, is undoubtedly a method that contains scientifically sound teaching technology and an ethical standard that has contributed to animal welfare in different parts of the planet.

Students from 22 countries have participated in their classroom and online courses: “Live and Learn with Animals for Professionals” and “Live and Learn with Parrots for Caregivers”. She has written chapters on learning and behavior in veterinary texts such as: Behavior of Exotic Pets, Avian Clinical Medicine and Manual of Parrot Behavior. She frequently contributes to broadcast magazines and her articles have been translated into eleven languages. Regular speaker at Clicker Expo and other international forums.

Dr. Friedman, one of our regular speakers, has also taught seminars for a wide variety of professional organizations around the world: the Association of Avian Veterinarians, the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Exotic Animal Training and Management program from Moorpark College and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. She has also been nominated for the Media Award, granted by the International Association for Behavior Analysis, for her career in disseminating accessible content topics, aimed at pet owners, veterinarians, animal trainers and zookeepers, in the which provides the necessary tools to enhance, enrich and make more friendly the lives of the animals in their care.
